Sculptor and watercolour artist John Dekker explores nature and humanity’s influences on it. John carves realistic, imaginative, and whimsical animals from a single log. 

 

   He began drawing and painting in his early years - having been championed by his teachers for his natural talent and interest in form, space and colour theory.  John was allowed to develop his own unique style drawing and painting  unencumbered by traditional methods and techniques. 

 

   Upon his retirement as a College Professor John taught himself wood sculpturing. He is interested in texture, colour, positive and negative spaces.
